London adventures with Kon!

[It takes a good few weeks of planning- and waiting for everyone to chill a little- but in the end, the plans for London are in place and go off without a hitch. Sure, with some jetlag, maybe, but that's part and parcel of travelling.

More to the point, they are now in London- a place Hawk's heard about, certainly, but not previously seen in person. The excitement's got the better of him- for now, at least.]

So- where did you want to go first? [he grins, eyes bright]

[Armed with a tourist's guide to London and way too many biscuits, Kon glances up at Hawk with an equally wide grin. He had taken the "human" way to the country, figuring that people would spot Superboy - and well, this time, he's keen on avoiding law enforcement.

That flight was also long enough for him to actually plan things, versus winging it and hoping for the best.] How tourist-y do you wanna go? I was thinking we could swing by the Eye first, but I'm up for anything.

Even high tea.

[Which is a pretty big feat, considering how neutral he is to tea otherwise!]

[he makes a kind of 'eh' sound, waggling one hand.] Well, I think we can handle being tourists for a time! And that sounds like a good first stop.

Perhaps we can get some afterwards!

[well, even if they just experience it once!]

I'd hope. We're not even here to do anything beyond sight-see this time.

[Famous last words, Kon.]

If not today, then definitely tomorrow. I might've wrangled one of Lex's secretaries into making us reservations at this super-famous place. [By which he means, he stared at her with the infamous Superboy Glare^TM. It's said to be super effective.]

Reservations, huh? Well, we couldn't possible be late to that. Where is it?

[well! nice work, eh~]

It's about a ten minute train ride from here. [He stuffs his hands in his pockets, glancing towards one of the myriad places they could duck into for a bit.] Apparently, it's the place to get tea and biscuits.

So we should be okay, as long as we don't get too distracted.

The place? Lucky us, then.

[he nods] We'll just have to keep an eye on the clock. How far's the Eye from here?

For us? Maybe the blink of an eye.

[Except considering the circumstances, he should probably keep his powers on the DL, so he sighs.] I think it's a twenty minute walk, if we're going normal-people speed.

[ah, yes. He reaches out for a quick shouldertap.]

It'll do us good! Or me, at least. Come on, let's get started.

[Kon heaves a sigh, almost rolling his eyes at Hawk as they head over.]

I can deal with normal-people speed. It's everything else that bothers me. [Like the law enforcement officials he's gonna be avoiding for a good long while.]

[he grins back for a moment, and tilts his head thoughtfully.]

General life, huh? Well, that's why we're on our way now! To the Eye!

[…which makes it sound more exciting than it may actually be, but. he's trying!]

[TO SPARE US FROM KON'S WHINING, they do indeed make it to the Eye! Kon grabs the tickets, flashes them to the needed people, and they're in! The line moves pretty fast, especially at this time of year - but it moves pretty slowly.

The capsules are a lot bigger than Kon imagined too. He glances over at Hawk as they step inside one, taking a moment to survey their surroundings. Normally, they'd be packed with other tourists.

Except there was some big fuss about... someone. Someone Kon should've probably paid attention to, like Bruce Wayne or Princess Diana of the Amazons, or someone that was important globally but not to an actual superhero. So it's empty.

This is one big pod.]

You know, when they said this was a ferris wheel? Not quite what I was expecting.

[…hopefully they're not superheroing anywhere near London today this is going to be a good day]

Me either. But it wouldn't be as much of a talking point if it was the same as every other ferris wheel other there. And it gives you a good view, doesn't it?

[Nah, no superheroing in sight; just boring superheroes doing their day job. Which could be glamorous to a civilian. Much less so when Kon sees them once a week.]

It's in the middle of London. You could stick a giant ice cream cone and I'm sure people would love it.

[Now he just wants ice cream, though he's smiling as he takes a good look around.] Yeah. Now that was worth the entire trip.

[everyday jobs are- well, everyday to those doing them, after all.]

You know, it surprises me someone hasn't done that!

[that'll go on the to-do list, then.]

Good! Though I certainly hope the rest of the trip will be just as worthwhile.

[Kon should know better by now. It's clear that he really doesn't.]

Of course it will. I'm with you, dummy.

[He lightly elbows Hawk, with nowhere near his full strength, because he had to ask? Just being here's enough]

The question is, could we find one, or do we make one?

He starts for a moment, rubbing the area, and then breaks out into a grin, throwing an arm around Kon.]

Aw, Kon! I'm touched. [and he is, he genuinely is, even as he's feeling for a camera with the other hand (he… thinks he had it? maybe?). Gotta keep this moment forever.]

[Is it selfie time? Kon can't argue with selfie time, so he grins, pulling out his smart phone just in case Hawk can't find his camera.]

We could do both. The more ice cream cones, the better, right?

[Flawless logic right here.]

Right! And if they're different, maybe we could record how people react, too!

[goddess Hawk this is a holiday chill a little.

selfie time! and hey, two perspectives? sounds like a good idea to him!

He manages to dig out his camera after a few more moments, and reaches out, grin in place.]

In three?

[Kon nods, his smile growing wide as he holds his phone back to get juuuust the right angle.]

Three, two, one....

[Cheese! Kon grins, pressing the camera button on his phone. He'll wait for the other flash, just in case, but in this moment, he really does feel normal. And to think, it only took a trip across the pond.]

Cheese!

[and Hawk makes an attempt to stick his fingers up to make ears behind Kon's head, but it's a bit awkward when he's trying to handle the camera as well. Still, it goes off! He laughs, pulling it back to take a look.]

Well, come on, what do you think?

[it's a bit shaky, of course, but fairly clear!

And hey, if that's what it takes. First steps!]

It's perfect.

[Kon is also the last guy to judge shaky pictures, considering the speed at which he moves.]

If anyone whines, then they can be our official photographer. No questions asked.

Fantastic!

[he beams, tucking the camera away again.]

Heh! Wouldn't that be something, though? Maybe we should try and cajole someone into doing that.

Hmmm. [Kon puts his phone away and taps the edges of his fingers together, in that classic supervillain pose, like he's seriously contemplating this.] We'd have to pay them well, though.

If we find someone who appreciates giant ice cream cones, then we should be good to go.

Well, if we want to get the best photos we should, shouldn't we?

[he nods, grinning.] There must be a few people who would. They're sure to appreciate the opportunity!

Exactly. Who wouldn't want to take pictures of this?

[That cockiness grows awestruck as he stares outside. He can fly, sure, but there's something about being up in a big ferris wheel that makes his heart skip a beat. London's gorgeous from this height.]

I can't imagine- well, maybe I can. But if they're interested in other places, that's their deal.

[he rests his chin on a hand, looking outside.]

… It really does look too good not to take a picture of, though.

[he's still just looking, though.]

Yeah. [...] Have I taken you flying before?

Like actually-carrying-you-through-the-air flying? If not, let's try that tomorrow.

[that grabs his attention, definitely, and he's already starting to beam by the time he turns to Kon.]

I don't think so! [he's sure he'd remember.] Definitely! The view from above is incredible, right?

It's amazing! Everything feels so small, and you really get a feel for what it feels like to be here and now.

[Flying is definitely one of his most-used abilities. Kon may or may not abuse his powers on a daily basis...] Then let's do it for sure.

[but with that available to you, how could you not]

Shame we'll have to get back on the ground first, though.

[oh… oh well. There's other things to do, right?]

How much longer for those reservations?

Um... an hour, I think.

[He glances down at his watch.] But I'm not too worried about us making it either.

[he chuckles] Between the two of us, I wouldn't be! Want to have a look and see what we can see in the meantime, then?

Well, yeah. [He nods, giving Hawk an almost incredulous expression.]

They wouldn't build this view without a little something, right?

Certainly nothing that will escape our combined investigation!

Exactly!! We leave no scones unturned.

[Stones, scones, it's all the same.]

[and with a chuckle]

And we'll find only the finest of scones!
